Job Title Project Nurse MNCH
Project Specific ObjectivesTo enable the District Health Management Teams, initially in Butha-Buthe, but gradually completely in Mokhotlong district, to supervise and support the health centre teams and coordinate efficiently with stakeholders; To enable the health centre teams to provide strengthened integrated health services at facility and community level thus contributing to universal health coverage focusing on maternal and child health such as deliveries, antenatal care, malnutrition and vaccine preventable diseases. To participate in implementation research, pilot innovative and locally adapted solutions and capitalize the lessons learnt.

Place of AssignmentButha-Buthe District, with field trips to Mokhotlong. In 2018 the position will gradually move to Mokhotlong completely, with visits to remote health facilities.
Summary Key Tasks·         Provide clinical mentoring, support and coaching for nurses at the supported sites·         Work closely with DHMT to implement activities aimed at improving MNCH indicators

  • Conduct systematic and analytical review of priority indicators under guidance of Project Manager
  • Support sites in the implementation of current MNCH guidelines and policies

·         Participate actively in the planning and implementation of  implementation research carried out within the project framework

Required Qualifications and Experience·         A diploma / degree in Nursing and Midwifery. Registration with the Nursing council as a nurse midwife is compulsory·         Minimum of 3 years experience in MCH mentoring, with some experience on TB/HIV mentoring.

·         Previous experience with an NGO is an added advantage.

·         Previous research experience is desirable.

·         Having worked in the health centres is necessary

·         Experience and interest in capacity building

·         Strong interest in operational research & scientific exchange

·         Very good computer skills (Word, Excel, Power-point)
