Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist and monitor in the issuing of pharmaceutical stocks/products and assist is issuing prescribed items.
  2. Prepare documentation, materials, components and other items for the preparation of aseptic products including assembly of prescribed items.
  3. Receive prescriptions from individual clients including clinicians and dispense the prescribed medicines accordingly.
  4. Receive pharmaceutical stock, verify record and enter stock on the stock cards with appropriate accuracy and maintain the pharmaceutical stock cards.
  5. Undertake an in-process accuracy check of assembled prescribed items prior to the final accuracy check (stock inventory)
  6. Ensure routine pharmaceutical stock update including making periodic timely drug orders to the relevant authorities.
  7. Be able to collaborate with other internal and external health professionals including the allied bodies.
  8. Full knowledge of the law and regulations pertaining to dispensing; ensure accurate dispensing of prescribed medications.
  9. Have good written and verbal communication skills including being computer literate i.e. micro excel and word. Ensure an understanding of the challenges facing dispensing practices and be able to generate pharmacy period reports to the program pharmacist and the site captain.
  10. Be able to coach and mentor other clinic staff directly under him/her, conduct CMEs on the most recent pharmaceutical products including explaining the adverse effects to the clinical team and clients.
  11. Demonstrable experience of communicating and liaising politely and positively with internal and external customers – face to face and on the telephone (essential)
  12. Able to maintain, input and monitor information on computer systems – such Microsoft Office Applications (desirable)
  13. Excellent time management – i.e. ability to work effectively and accurately to strict deadlines and timelines (essential)

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma in Pharmacy Technology or its equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years working experience of which two must be in HIV related field.
  • Demonstrate skills in use of computerized/ electronic logistics management systems is required.
  • Experience in dispenser role and able to demonstrate leadership qualities.

 

TYPE OF CONTRACT: FIXED TERM (2 YEARS)

  • Experience in dispenser role and able to demonstrate leadership qualities.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must be registered with the Lesotho Medical & Pharmacy Council.LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Should have good written, oral and interpersonal communication skills of both English and luganda. Ability to express oneself in the other locally usable languages is an added advantage.

 

TEAM WORK

  • Should be willing to be part of a team player.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Must be knowledgeable in MS office applications such as M/S word, office, excel, and electronic logistics management systems

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Basic Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

  • Highest Skills: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) and its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
