Maintenance Planner at Liqhobong Mine


Liqhobong Mining Development Company (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Firestone Diamonds PLC, invites suitably qualified and competent applicants to apply for the vacant position of Maintenance Planner.


Job Purpose

Responsible for assisting with the development of reliability based maintenance strategy, based on preventive and predictive maintenance. Furthermore, to plan, coordinate and supervise the safe construction and maintenance activities of all civil infrastructures at LMDC.



Under the direct supervision of the Site Engineer, the incumbent will carry out the following duties and responsibilities;

Ensure adherence to SHE programs, best practices, safety standards and regulations;

Identify specific safety hazards that will be encountered in the performance of the proposed work and ensure risk assessments are conducted prior to commencing any construction maintenance or installation work/task;

Identify areas requiring civils maintenance, diagnose problem areas and initiate necessary remedial action;

Compile short to medium term plans for civils maintenance activities;

Make periodic inspections of assigned facilities to determine conditions and maintenance requirements;

Obtain approval of maintenance plans from Line Supervisor;

Collaborate with maintenance supervision to schedule manpower and resources for the most effective maintenance outcomes;

Keep maintenance history and job records database;

Develop standard construction/electrical and maintenance work procedures and checklists for review by line supervisors;

Prioritize maintenance work with appropriate inputs from departments and/or direct reports and allocates maintenance duties;

Inspect maintenance work completed to ensure quality standards are maintained and sign off the job cards and file them accordingly and submit reports thereof;

Assign and monitor any out sourced work given to the contractors and conduct inspections to ensure compliance;

Liaise with finance for payment of the work done;


Legal and other requirements

Police clearance and medical examinations of fitness

Valid driving licence


Qualifications and experience

3 – 5 years’ experience in similar capacity in a plant / construction/civil environment;

Diploma in construction/project management/ civil engineering;

Qualified technician with a planned maintenance qualification;

Proficient computer skills such as MS office suite;

Knowledge of Legislation and regulations
